MTG MARINETECHNIK is a German naval design center with five decades of experience in the planning and conception of naval vessels.
MTG has been using SURMA since 2015.
“SURMA offers MTG the opportunity to carry out vulnerability analyses within the shortest time and thus to improve and evaluate ship designs in the early design phases and in the subsequent phases in the interests of the customers.”
"There are very high demands on survivability of a combat vessel in operation, which have a decisive influence on the ship design. Measures for vulnerability reduction and thus the increase of survivability must already be taken into account in the very early design phases.
The essential measures for the vulnerability reduction are to be determined and their effectiveness verified. MTG Marinetechnik GmbH uses the
Survivability Manager SURMA to verify the effectiveness of the measuresand to analyze the vulnerability of the ship. SURMA generates valid results in the every design phase, which are essential for MTG.
While modelling and simulations are already possible in the very early design phases, in the subsequent design phases, the level of detail of the model can be increased with little effort and therefore more accurate results will be achieved.

In addition, the principle of the "one-ship model" can be implemented. Based on the ship design (design and hull shape, as well as steel definition, hydrostatics and stability), the created ship model can be used directly in SURMA for the vulnerability simulation.
An error-prone conversion of the data is not necessary. The threat scenarios, like the ship model,
are freely editable and thus flexible in use.
SURMA offers MTG the opportunity to carry out vulnerability analyses within the shortest time (within hours or days, not month) and thus to improve and evaluate ship designs in the interests of the customers.
For this, the program offers extensive output files, which allow a comprehensive statistical evaluation."
